Matt-

You have hit on a concern and feeling of mine. I don;t like the standard trophies. At all. I liked the trophies that Rick Sellers did for Deep South Nationals. I don't have the time and commitment he did with all we have going on to build cool trophies like that. We are headed in a direction that will include trophies this year, and they will be nice. But they won't be standard. :-)

In CAN we are only doing two classes, which leads to less participation in my opinion. Everybody wants to win, so we have a few more classes than we should. IASCA is thankfully down to only 7 on the SQ side and that is reasonable for a show promoter.

BTW... The largest expense for this show? Trophies.

I think the Trophy is what could be special about our competitions. It has to be something sought after! I mean like the Stanley cup or Heisman.

At NOPI NATS last year (2007) they handed out gobs of plain jane trophies. I know they cost a lot, but I believe that a small entrance fee plus sponsors like ARC Audio (2008) could make an important change like this to our sport. The winner must have Prestige!

Or whats the point if everyone gets one! Only the top 3 in each class and we should only have 3 or 4 classes. Manufacture, Professional, Amature, Novice.

It would be cool if the trophy had maybe a Tweeter and Music note for 3rd. Tweeter, Mid, and

Music note for 2nd, Tweeter, Mid, Subwoofer, and Music note for 1st Of The Sponsoring Manufacture

Possibly ? Add a marble base, maybe plexiglass case, Imagine JL, Focal, Hertz, Pioneer,RF. With a certificate of authenticity. Bottom line- our sport incorporates the most educated Carpenters, Mechanics, Electricians, Fabricators, and Inventors all in one competition and we don't create worthy trophies. Shame on us.

The Manufacture Class is also depressing to newcomers to our sport, even if they don't compete directly. Their high dollar cars may seem too overwhelming. This stuff should be discussed amongst the leaders in this industry. Maybe (price classes)? Under $1500/ $1501 to $2500/ $2501 and up. I would love to compete in a $1501 to $2500

class. You would have to research the products and

configure your car, not just buy your way to a trophy. This is similar to the Pioneer buildoff because they must use the same equipment. A Concerned Fan
