  • Does anybody remember their first system?

Back before I knew what imaging was, what staging meant or anything else, I knew I wanted realistic sound. My first system reminds me of my first car. It had moments when it was awesome, but there were some moments you wished the stupid thing would just work. But then again, you probably have a soft spot for both your first car and your first system.

My first "real" car was an 1985 Audi 4000, which lived for over 320k miles despite my abuses to it. And it had no less than a half dozen totally different installs finally ending up with one I was proud of. (And strangely enough for some people, my amps in my current Audi are the same amps in this one's final system.) The first install was done in my parents driveway in a weekend with NO clue how to do it. I am scared one day somebody will find pictures of the head unit wiring job I did.

So what was your first system?

    Mine was:

    • 2 Pyle Drivers (The Ones with the Gold Lettering...)
    • 1 AutoTek Mean Machine 100. (A 100 Watt Amp!!!!)
    • 1 Panasonic Head Unit
    • 1 Pair of Boston Acoustic Speakers.

  • Easter Eggs in Audio Gear

Easter Eggs have been around for years. I can remember my friend Mike and I playing a flight simulator game in Excel and watching a volcano in Windows 9x. There is even a whole website devoted to Easter Eggs in DVD’s, CD’s and Software. http://www.eeggs.com/ One of the ones I just had a laugh about was in the Latest Apple Keyboard Update. Something tells me Mr. Jobs would LOVE to find this engineer and put him out of a job. :-)

Over the years, there was a thread on the old Phoenix Gold Forums that highlighted some “easter eggs” on car audio circuit boards. (Which is now disbanded and was reformed by a number of PG Fans at www.PhoenixPhorum.com) While digging through an old Hard Drive the other day, I found these images. Rumor has it some of them are engineering samples, early production runs, etc... But some of them where in Production pieces.

Do you have any easter eggs for Car Audio?

  • Prize Monies for Preliminary Events - What do you prefer?

In talking with Terry Floyd this afternoon, we are trying to figure out the best way to make sure that the preliminary events go as smooth as possible. We have a set budget.... $500.00 per preliminary event... So would you rather one prize for the highest score in both One and Two Seat classes or two prizes, one for each class?  So it would be:

    1. $500.00 awarded for the highest SQ Score for the highest overall score in both the One and Two Seat Classes.
    2. $250.00 awarded to the highest SQ Score in the One Seat and $250.00 awarded for highest SQ Score in the Two Seat Class.

    What do you prefer?
